New Hampshire Explorer; Canobie Lake Park’s proposed white water rapids attraction that never saw the light of day. New Hampshire Explorer, or NHE, was supposed to be placed in the former ball field behind their most recent roller coaster, Untamed. However, days before the announcement, the plans fell through.
New Hampshire Explorer was supposed to be the ‘new for 2017’ attraction at the park. The attraction would have included a play structure, a new food venue, a gift shop, and an experience themed heavily toward New Hampshire’s wildlife and history.
In the middle of October, an image of who was announcing at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) surfaced, and sure enough, Canobie was on the list. Eventually, the plans surfaced on the town of Salem’s website and were posted to the CanobieFan forums on October 23rd.
In the beginning of November, an accident occurred on a similar ride at Dreamworld in Australia. After the news of this accident spread, Canobie removed the plans from Salem’s website and slipped off the list of announcers at IAAPA.
There’s no telling if this project is completely cancelled, or delayed for a few years. One thing for sure, it will not be at the park for 2017. That leaves the one question everyone is asking. What will Canobie add? Well, no one knows. Hopefully, information on their next new addition is revealed soon.
